Keoti (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is an assembly constituency in Darbhanga district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 86 Keoti (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Keoti community development block; Arai Birdipur, Banauli, Bharathi, Bharhulli, Hariharpur East, Hariharpur West, Harpur, Madhopur Basatwara, Kaligaon, Sadhwara, Dighiar ,Tektar and Simri gram panchayats of Singhwara CD Block.[1]

Keoti (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 6 Madhubani (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

Election results

1977-2015

In the 2015 state assembly elections, Dr. Faraz Fatmi of Rashtriya Janata Dal won the Keoti assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Ashok Kumar Yadav of BJP. In the 2010, October 2005 and February 2005 state assembly elections, Ashok Kumar Yadav of BJP won the Keoti assembly seat, defeating his nearest rival Faraz Fatmi of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Mahboob Ahmad Khan of RJD and Md. Mohsin of RJD respectively. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Ghulam Sarwar of RJD/ JD defeated Ashok Kumar Yadav of BJP in 2000 and 1995, and Raj Kishor Yadav, Independent, in 1990. Kalim Ahmad of Congress defeated Raj Kishor Yadav of JP in 1985. Shamaole Nabi of Congress defeated Fuziur Rahman of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh) in 1980. Durgadas Thakur of JP defeated Rajendra Prasad Yadav of Congress in 1977.[2][3]
