The 2015–16 Académica do Porto Novo season were in the island and top division of Cape Verdean football. The season for the club was as not as successful as the previous four seasons, a part of it were defeating the region's weakest clubs, since the association has only a single division. The club won their 10th title and became the next club to win six consecutive titles of each island leagues, others are CS Mindelense of nearby São Vicente several times between the foundation up to 1994, Botafogo of Fogo in 1981 and Brava's Nô Pintcha in 1996. The title total has became to be one of the most number of clubs having the most regional titles.
The club scored a total of 69 goals, Of which, 60 were regional and was a record breaking total in the island and South Zone's history, the other nine in the national championships, six in the regular season and only three in the playoffs. Their total points was 33 for the island and made it their third highest to 36 made in 2012 and 11 in the national championships totalling 44, their overall made it second in the club's history.[1]
Académica Porto Novo's regional championship titles covers half of the 20 regional titles won with the exception of some seasons in the late 1990s.
Santo Antão South Zone Island League
The 2016 season was their sixth consecutive season that won first place ahead of Marítimo who had the same points but scored 34 goals. It was not a successful one in the final round of the season made their first loss in four years losing to their second rival Marítimo 2-1 on April 23, it had 60 matches without a loss and is the highest recorded of any of the island leagues in Cape Verde, in away matches, it had 30 matches without a loss, ahead of Santiago South's Sporting Praia who now has 19 matches without a loss away on February 26, 2017, one part its recently extended 22 match season, and third is Mindelense. Also on week 13, Académica defeated Sporting, a club that was once strong now weak, with a high scoring match of 11-0 which made it the highest in the region for the season. Also it holds record without a loss that is a combined South Zone championship-cup-super cup matches numbering about 60 and the over lasted until April 23 but not on home matches which continues into the present day.
Académica Porto Novo finished with 11 wins and a loss.
One of the best scorers of the season in the region was Xolote.
Uncommon in other leagues in other countries, some of the matches of different portions were mixed up and in different round which were not in order

Santo Antão South Zone Cup
Académica Porto Novo defeated Lajedos in the regional cup final and claimed their 11th cup title and is the most of any of the regional Capeverdean cup titles.
Santo Antão Cup
Unlike earlier seasons with their outstanding achievements even in cup competitions, the club lost one of a few matches there and was out of the competition and their continued records without a loss at the regional competitions was shattered.
Santo Antão South Zone Super Cup
Nonetheless in the 2015 edition, the club defeated Marítimo who was second place cup winner as the club were also cup winners and claimed their 5th Super Cup title.
Santo Antão Super Cup
Académica participated in the first ever Santo Antão single Super Cup, in the finals, the club defeated Marítimo in the Super Cup final.
Cape Verdean Football Championships
For the sixth consecutive time, the club entered the national championships Three times the club challenged Mindelense in the season, the other was also in Group B and both qualified into the knockout stage.. The club made their second finals appearance, the club finished as a finalist after losing to Mindelense in the penalty shootouts. The national championship restructuring omitted the knockout stage for the 2017 season and the overall appearances of the knockout stages was complete.

Finals
Xolote scored a goal at the last remaining minutes of the first of two matches. As the second match saw Mindelense scored a goal, it went into the penalty shootouts. Académica Porto Novo lost the penalty shootouts and was runner-up of the season.
