The 2010–11 Santiago Island League (South) season began on 8 November and finished on 3 May. Boavista won their first title since the break-up and qualified into the 2011 Cape Verdean Football Championships. Boavista won the national title for 2010 which the runner up Sporting also qualified for the season. The next time a second participant from Santiago South would be in 2013. Also Boavista was to qualify into the super cup as champion and also as cup winner, but that competition did not took place. The championship was organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul, ARFSS).[1][2] All matches were played at Estádio da Várzea.
Once more, Sporting Praia was the defending team of the title. A total of 20 clubs participated in the competition, 10 in both divisions.[2]
Overview
A total of 208 goals were scored, fewer than last season. Boavista scored the most with 38, second was Sporting with 29, third was Académica with 24 and fourth was ninth placed Celtic with 21. The least goals scored was Bairro with 12, second least were Ribeira Grande and Travadores with 14.[2] On the opposites, both Ribeira Grande, Travadores and Celtic conceded the most with 29, the least goals conceded was Académica.
In the Second Division competition, Tchadense won the title and would be promoted next season. 9th placed Celtic remained in the Premier Division next season after winning the decisional match competitions. Bairro was relegated and competed in the Second Division next season, they did not return until next season.
