The 2007 Santiago Island League (South) season began on 27 January and finished on 8 May and was the last time held in a single year. Sporting again won the regional competition and qualified into the 2007 Cape Verdean Football Championships. The championship was organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul, ARFSS).[1][2] All matches were played at Estádio da Várzea and was the last season that some matches were played at Campo de Sucupira. The field no longer exists today and several buildings dominate the former field.

Again, Sporting Praia was the defending team of the title. A total of 18 clubs participated in the competition, 10 in both divisions.[2]

Overview

A total of 236 goals were scored, three more than last season. Sporting scored the most with 39, second were Travadores and Boavista with 28. The least was Vila Nova with 14, second were Celtic with 16 and third was Lapaloma with 19.[2] On the opposites, Delta conceded the most with 37, second least was Desportivo with 36 and third least was Celtic with 32. Académica conceded the least with eight.

The top five clubs finished in the same position as they had last season.

In the Second Division competition,, AD Ribeira Grande won the title and would be promoted next season. 9th placed Celtic remained in the division after winning the decisional match competitions. Lapaloma was relegated and competed in the Second Division next season, they did not return into the Premier Division until the 2015-16 season until a merger with one of the clubs that became Eugénio Lima FC in 2015.
