Vanessa Kay Trump[2] (born December 18, 1977) is an American socialite, actress and former model. She was married from 2005 to 2018 to Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the current President of the United States, Donald Trump. She was born in New York City.

Before her marriage to Donald Trump Jr. in 2005, she dated the Saudi prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud.

Early life

She grew up in a townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan,[3] and attended The Dwight School,[4] a private school. Her late stepfather, Charles Haydon, was a storied Manhattan lawyer whose clients included Marilyn Monroe and Broadway producer and real estate mogul Abe Hirschfeld.[5][6] Haydon's maternal grandfather was Danish jazz musician Kai Ewans.[7][8][9][10]

Vanessa's high school sweetheart was Valentin Rivera, a member of a violent street gang named Latin Kings.[11]

Career

She was a model in her teens and twenties[12] and was signed to Wilhelmina Models.[13]

As an actress, she appeared in the 2003 film Something's Gotta Give alongside Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton.[14] She also appeared on The Apprentice (2004) and Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It (2010).[15]

She and her sister Veronika opened a nightclub called 'Sessa' in the fall of 2003.[16]

She also released her own line of handbags called La Poshett in 2010.[1]

Personal life

Vanessa Trump dated from 1998 to 2001 and lived together with Saudi prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud.[17] Vanessa Trump intended to marry him, but they broke up after the September 11 attacks when he left the U.S. after his Saudi ambassador father, Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, was suspected of having indirect ties to the Al Qaeda-hijackers.[18]

Vanessa married Donald Trump Jr. on November 12, 2005. The wedding was held at the Mar-a-Lago club in Florida; the service was officiated by Trump Jr.'s aunt, Judge Maryanne Trump Barry.[19] Trump Jr. proposed to her with a $100,000 ring that he got for free from a jeweler in exchange for proposing to her in front of paparazzi outside of the jeweler's store in a New Jersey mall.[13] Together they have five children.[20] On March 15, 2018 it was reported that Vanessa filed for an uncontested divorce in court in New York.[21] However, it was later revealed that the divorce was contested.[5][4] Later, in July 2018, they resolved a child custody issue as part of the contested divorce. Financial issues still needed to be resolved for the divorce to be finalized.[22]
