Bergen Tinghus

Nordhordland District Court (Norwegian: Nordhordland tingrett) is a district court serving Nordhordland and Midhordland (except Bergen), as well as Gulen in Norway. [1][2]

The District Court of Nordhordland is co-located with Bergen District Court in Bergen Tinghus at Tårnplads 2 in Bergen. Cases can be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal. The municipalities covered by the court are Askøy, Austrheim, Austevoll, Fedje, Fjell, Fusa, Gulen, Masfjorden, Meland, Modalen, Os, Osterøy, Øygarden, Radøy, Samnanger, Sund, Vaksdal and Voss. [3]

Bergen Tinghus was designed by architect Egill Reimers in neoclassical style during 1933 and is considered one of his main works. The brick building has 25 courtrooms covering six floors plus basement and loft. At the main entrance on Tårnplass are four granite statue representing the cardinal virtues; wisdom, justice, moderation and strength. The sculptures are designed by artists Nic Schiøll and Stinius Fredriksen. [4] [5][6][7][8]
