Bergen Tinghus

Bergen District Court (Norwegian: Bergen tingrett) is a district court serving Bergen, Norway. [1]

The Bergen District Court of Bergen is located inside Bergen Tinghus at Tårnplads 2 in Bergen. It is co-located in Bergen Tinghus with Nordhordland District Court. Cases can be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal, the appeal court for the counties of Hordaland, Rogaland and Sogn og Fjordane.[2]

Bergen Tinghus was designed by architect Egill Reimers in neoclassical style during 1933 and is considered one of his main works. The brick building has 25 courtrooms covering six floors plus basement and loft. At the main entrance on Tårnplass are four granite statue representing the cardinal virtues; wisdom, justice, moderation and strength. The sculptures are designed by artists Nic Schiøll and Stinius Fredriksen. [3][4][5][6]
