Dhakuria railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway Station on the Sealdah–Sonarpur line with an approximate 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) distance from Sealdah railway station. It is under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway zone. Dhakuria railway station is one of the busiest railway stations of Sealdah railway division. More than 115 pairs of E.M.U. Local Trains ply through the railway station on a daily basis. It is situated in Kolkata in the Indian State of West Bengal. Dhakuria railway station serves Dhakuria and the surrounding areas.[1][2]
Geography
Dhakuria railway station is located at 22°30′33″N 88°22′16″E / 22.5091°N 88.3712°E. It has an average elevation of 9 metres (30 ft).
History
In 1862 , the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) wide Broad Gauge Railway from Sealdah to Dhakuria.
Electrification
Electrification of the Sealdah–Dhakuria line was completed with 25 kV AC overhead system in 1965–66.
