Park Circus railway station |
Park Circus railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway Station on the Sealdah–Sonarpur line with an approximate 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) distance from Sealdah railway station. It is under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway zone. Park Circus railway station is one of the busiest railway stations of Sealdah railway division. More than 150 pairs of E.M.U. Local Trains ply through the railway station on a daily basis. It is situated in Kolkata in the Indian State of West Bengal. Park Circus railway station serves Park Circus and the surrounding areas.[1][2]

History
In 1862 , the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) wide Broad Gauge Railway from Sealdah to Park Circus.
Electrification
Electrification of the Sealdah–Park Circus line was completed with 25 kV AC overhead system in 1965–66.
