Balara (Nepali Language: बलरा) (Maithili Language: बलरा)is a Municipality in Sarlahi District in the Province no. 2 of Nepal. The Balara village is merged in Balara Municipality form April-9, 2017. The Municipality office in situated in Balara VDC 5 (now Balara Municipality 4). The Balara Municipality is composed of Balaramal, Bhansar Tol, Lakshmipur, Okas, Jabdi, Jamuniya, Narharganj, Arnaha, Hatiyaul, Sedhwa, Sijuwa, Mirjapur, Sudama, Chatauna, Achalgadh, Baluwabhar, Gadahiya, Dumariya, Math Tola and Kharaiya Tola. At the time of the 2009 Nepal census it had a population of 52995 people living in 8153 individual households. Maithili is the most spoken language in the Balara Municipality, while Hindi and English us understood by the city's educated resisdent. The Balara Municipality is located about 25 km south-west of Malangwa. Balara is curently five largest City in Sarlahi district(after Malangawa, Barhathwa, Hariwon and Lalbandi.[1] Balara Municipality is very popular city of Sarlahi District. Its called also The Gateway of Southwestern Sarlahi. Sitla mai temple and Bajragbali temple is very famous hinduism temple for Balara Municipality.

  • Festivals:

Major religious celebrations include the Hindu festivals Chaurchan, Deepawali and Vijayadashami, followed by Chhat pooja witch celebrated six days after Chhat pooja. Holi, Deepawali and Chhat pooja are celebrated in a carnival-like atmosphere.
