Ain er-Rihaneh (Arabic: عين الريحانة; also spelled Ayn ar-Rihanah or Aain er-Rihane) is a town and municipality located in the Keserwan District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate of Lebanon. The town is about 21 kilometres (13 mi) north of Beirut.[1] It has an average elevation of 340 meters above sea level and a total land area of 2000 hectares.[1] Ain er-Rihaneh's inhabitants are Maronites.[2] The village contained two private schools enrolling a total of 201 students as of 2006.[1]

Religion

Ain er-Rihaneh encompasses four churches, church beit kreidy which is over 100 years old as construction finished back in 1892,[3] the church of our lady of salvation [3] built by former mayor Raymond el Boustany who god willingly gave it as a donation to the Vatican Catholic Church in 2011 one year before his death . He is one of three people in Lebanon to do so and his legacy is being promoted by his son Vincent Raymond el Boustany who recently opened up the villages first municipal building at the entrance to the village on 23 of April 2017. There is also another church of our lady of salvation which was constructed over 300 years before the present one. It is located directly in front of the new one.The fourth and last church is s.t Joseph of the apparition .

Historical Background and contents

The Village accommodates the first monastery for the Legal Sisters in the Maronite community, the monastery of John the Baptist – Hrach, which includes an elementary and boarding public school. Moreover, it hosts Sesobel which is considered as one of the top humanitarian associations in the country, in addition to Ain el-Rihaneh Club Association that is responsible for all sporting and cultural activities and the Consulate of the Republic of Togo.

Famous Decedents

Karen R. Boustany

Ain el-Rihaneh is the birthplace of Book writer and Television celebrity star Karen Boustany who has published novels, among them being ( Mon pẽre le Roi du Monde ) translating My father the King of the World. Karen is also the host and producer of her own television show Asmaa min al tarikh[4] on Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International and LDC. Furthermore, Karen works along with the Foreign minister Gebran Bassil in Promoting their work in the Diaspora as a spokes person.

Vincent R. Boustany

Vincent Boustany is a two time elected Municipal President of his Village Ain er-Rihaneh . He is the only son of Former Mayor Raymond Boustany and is one of the main contributors to the construction of the church of our lady of salvation. Mr Boustany is the first and only Municipal President to construct the town's first municipal building that opened its doors to the public on the 23 of April 2017.
