The 1969–70 Iraqi Central Premier League was the 14th season of the Iraqi Central League (the top division of football in central Iraq (i.e. the capital city of Baghdad) from 1956 to 1974). Aliyat Al-Shorta won their third league title and Al-Shorta's fourth, and they became the first team to win three Central League titles in a row. Aliyat Al-Shorta's title win qualified them for the 1971 Asian Club Championship (now known as the AFC Champions League), becoming the first ever Iraqi team to qualify for a major continental club competition.[1] Al-Bareed's Kadhim Abboud was top scorer with eight goals.
