Etymology

From Pali pallaṅka (couch; sofa); probably via Old Khmer °pallaṅa, pālaṃṅa (throne). Compare Modern Khmer បល្លង្ក (bɑɑllɔɔngkɑɑ), បល្ល័ង្ក (bɑɑllĕəngkɑɑ); Sanskrit पल्यङ्क (palyaṅka), पर्यङ्क (paryaṅka).
