New York's 7th State Senate district

New York's 7th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Senator Anna Kaplan since 2019. Kaplan defeated Republican Senator Elaine Phillips in the 2018 midterm elections; Phillips herself succeeded retiring Republican Senator Jack Martins in 2016.

Geography

District 7 covers northwestern Nassau County on Long Island. It is based in the town of North Hempstead, but also reaches into small areas of Hempstead and Oyster Bay.[3]

The district overlaps with U.S. congressional districts 3, 4, and 5, and with New York State Assembly districts 13, 15, 16, 19, and 22.[4]
