New York's 6th State Senate district

New York's 6th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Senator Kevin Thomas since 2019. Thomas was first elected in 2018, beating longtime Republican Senator Kemp Hannon in what was widely regarded as an upset victory.[3]

Geography

District 6 is located in central Nassau County on Long Island. It is centered around the town of Hempstead and the hamlet of Levittown, and stretches into southern Oyster Bay.[4]

The district overlaps with U.S. congressional districts 2, 3, and 4, and with New York State Assembly districts 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 21, and 22.[5]
