New York's 51st State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Republican Senator James L. Seward, under different district lines and numbers, since 1987.

Geography

District 51 is a convoluted district in Central New York and the Hudson Valley, covering all of Schoharie, Otsego, and Cortland Counties, as well as parts of Tompkins, Herkimer, Chenango, Cayuga, Delaware, and Ulster Counties.[3]

The district overlaps with U.S. congressional districts 19, 22, 23, and 24, and with New York State Assembly districts 101, 102, 103, 118, 119, 121, 122, 125, and 126.[4]
