New York's 1st State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Republican Senator Kenneth LaValle since 1977.

Geography

District 1 covers the eastern end of Suffolk County on Long Island, including the towns of East Hampton, Southold, Shelter Island, Southampton, and Riverhead, as well as some of eastern Brookhaven.[3]

The district is located entirely within U.S. congressional district 1, and overlaps with New York State Assembly districts 1, 2, 3, and 4.[4]
