Hamzah Zainudin

Dato' Seri Hamzah bin Zainudin (Jawi: حمزه بن زاينودين; born 12 March 1957) is a Malaysian politician and is the Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Larut constituency in Perak. Presently he is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU), a component of Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party and was the Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism in the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government then (2015-2018).[1] He resigned from UMNO to be an Independent politician in 2018.[2]

In this Malay name, the name Zainudin is a patronymic, not a family name, and the person should be referred to by the given name, Hamzah.

Hamzah was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2008 election and was appointed a Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government.[3][4] He was previously a member of the Malaysian Senate[5] and Chairman of the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (FELCRA).[6]
