Yallappa Nayakana Hosakote, often written as Y. N. Hosakote is a small town in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[1][2] It is located in the Pavagada taluk of Tumkur district in Karnataka. In 1556 a local king named Yallappa nayaka founded the fort on the hill Siddarabetta (Pamula Banda) beside of Kundurpi. This place gate name as Yallappanayakana hosakote.

Demographics

As of the 2011 India census, Y. N. Hosakote had a population of 12593 with 6423 males and 6170 females.[1]

Y.N.Hosakote Town, with population of about 13 thousand is the most populous village in Pavagada taluk of Tumkur district in the state Karnataka in India. Total geographical area of Y.N.Hosakote village is 16 km2 and it is the 19th biggest Town by area in the taluk. Population density of the Town is 2793 persons per km2. Nearest town of the village is Pavagada and distance from Y.N.Hosakote is 29 km. The village have its own panchayat, Police station and post office and it’s pin code is 572141. District head quarter of the Town is Tumkur which is 135 km away.


The Town is home to about 12 thousand people, among them 75% of the whole population are from general caste, 10% are from schedule caste and 15% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Y.N.Hosakote Town is 11%, among them 54% are boys and 46% are girls. There are 2849 households in the village and an average 4 persons live in every family.

As of 2011 census there are 961 females per 1000 male in the village. Sex ratio in general caste is 970, in schedule caste is 910 and in schedule tribe is 951. There are 859 girls under 6 years of age per 1000 boys of the same age in the village.

This town's main business is Agriculture and also Silk Saree (Handlooms), Here more people are self employed with hand-looms. Designing for the silk Sarees and Coloring the Silk is the main business here. On Rainey season main craft is Ground Nut (This will be grown on the dry land). This area peanut seeds have more oil content, due to this more demand for the ground nut seeds in Maharastra.
