Life and career
Xu was born in Fujian, China, and moved to Singapore to pursue his studies. When he was 17, he became passionate about entertainment, and participated in Singaporean singing competition Campus SuperStar, representing Woodlands Ring Secondary School, but was eliminated during the first round of competition. After graduating from Temasek Polytechnic in 2012, he entered the entertainment industry again, and was given a role in Singaporean movie Timeless Love, directed by Hwee and Dasmond Koh.
In 2013, Xu was awarded the Favourite Male Character in Star Awards 2013.
In 2014, he was nominated the Most Favourite On-screen Couple with Julie Tan in Star Awards 20. The same year, he became the Spokesperson for Sony Mobile SG.
On February 14, 2015, Xu released his second single, 几分之几 under NoonTalk Media.
Together with Aloysius Pang, he also took part in an online variety show produced by NoonTalk Media, 来吧!上课啦!.
In 2016, he joined Dasmond Koh 's company called Frozenage with Aloysius Pang.
Xu Bin chose not to recontract after the end of his previous contract in 2017 as he has stated that he is hoping for opportunities outside of Singapore. At the moment, Xu is keeping his wife company in Wu Han, China as he hopes to spend more time with his newly wedded wife.
Personal life
On 9 October 2017, Xu announced his marriage to Wang Yifei, a Chinese national who is one year younger than him. They dated for three years before getting engaged on August 2017, followed by their wedding on 3 November in Singapore, and two other wedding banquets held in their hometowns, China Fujian and Wuhan, on the 13 and 28 January 2018 respectively.[1]
On 23 March 2018, NoonTalk Media announced that Xu Bin would soon become a father-to-be with his wife, who was then 4 months pregnant. It was announced that they would be expecting their first child in August. On 10 July 2018, his son was born in Wuhan, China, in his wife’s hometown. His son was born 20 days before his expected birth date.
