"Xmas Party" (titled "Xmas Prom" in the DVD release) is the sixth episode and series finale of the first series of The Inbetweeners. It first aired on the 29 May 2008 on E4.

Plot

At the end of the first term of Rudge Park Comprehensive, a Christmas Prom is hosted for sixth form students, which Will is chairman of due to being the only applicant. He manages to receive help from Simon, Jay, and Neil; Jay only on the condition that he can act as a DJ, though Will only allows this for a certain period of time due to another band already being booked. Will dedicates an extensive amount of time into planning the evening, going over a lengthy schedule during the after school meetings which frustrates the other students involved. Simon begins discussing a plan to openly express his feelings towards Carli during the party, something Jay also agrees to help with once working as the DJ. An argument begins to erupt between Will and Jay during the day before the party, where Jay claims Charlotte Hinchcliffe only briefly dated Will as part of a bet with her friends, which Will bluntly denies but is still left anxious over. At the end of the day, after Mr Gilbert mockingly reprimands Will in front of the common room for using his first name when calling him, Will is approached by school bully Mark Donovan who threatens violence against him if he goes near Charlotte during the party.

As the boys begin setting up the party venue, Will remains stressed that the standards are not good enough, and worried that Donovan will attack him when he leasts expects it. Neil then enters in his evening outfit, revealed to be an extremely tight suit revealing most of his chest and creating a noticeably small crotch bulge, which he increases by shoving socks inside. When it starts, the party runs smoothly, with guests seemingly enjoying themselves despite Will's unpopular reputation. He is later approached by Charlotte who praises his work on the party and offers him a dance, but is worried to be seen with her in light of Donovan's threats, and so insists he has work to get on with. However, before she leaves, he asks her to confirm whether or not their relationship was a bet, and she responds by happily kissing him and promising him a dance later.

During a break from his DJ work, Jay rushes to grab a burger from unpopular, overweight student Big John, who is in charge of food. After an initial dispute, Jay reveals a more sensitive side of his character, admitting his fear of being ignored and how he fabricates stories in order to gain attention. The two appear to be developing a friendship, but when Jay is approached by Samantha, an attractive girl whom he realises shares similar interests, he steals drinks from Big John, insults him, and leaves with her. Some time later, Simon's plan to woo Carli is put in place, and Jay stops the music at his request so he can confess his feelings to her. However, with all eyes at the party on him, he becomes overly nervous and fails to do so. Luckily, everyone is distracted from Simon's potential humiliation when a drunken Neil attempts to kiss his Biology teacher Miss Timms - falsely regarded as being extremely attractive by many students, and is consequently reprimanded by Mr Gilbert. Donovan then appears and threatens Will after seeing him with Charlotte, but many at the party defend Will, including some who dislike him, due to him organising such a good event. Donovan then sees a disgusted Charlotte walking away and he sadly pursues her. Will, grateful and stunned, attempts to deliver a thank you speech, only to be ignored as the party continues.

The party ends and Will, Simon, and Neil reflect on the past term on a trampoline in the gym hall. Jay then appears and tells the boys he has just been fellated by a girl in the DJ booth, but when the others pressure him to tell the truth, caves in and admits it was only a "handjob outside of the trousers". Following some friendly teasing, Jay dives on the other boys and the gang end the term with amicable playfighting on the trampoline.
