"Work Experience" is the second episode of the second series of The Inbetweeners. It first aired on 9 April 2009 on E4.

Plot

It is Valentine's Day and the boys compare the cards they have received, with Jay showing off many that Will and Simon immediately suspect he wrote himself, although Simon shows off a genuine card he has received from a younger pupil, Hannah. Will catches up with Charlotte, to whom he sent a card and a bouquet of flowers. She invites him along to an under-18s disco that day in which she will be bartending. Before that though, the boys are required to undertake work experience.

Jay has set himself and Simon up at his father's workplace, which turns out to be nowhere near as fun as Jay promised. Will's request to be placed at a local newspaper is mixed up and he is instead sent to a garage, with Neil going to the newspaper office. Despite Will's protests, Mr Gilbert refuses to swap the placements out of his dislike of Will. Despite his lack of interest in newspapers, Neil does fine at his placement. Will struggles to fit in with a group of people working at a place he says he will never work at after branding their occupation "dirty" and "not academic". They kidnap him and throw him into a lake. In an attempt to be accepted his workmates, Will lies about his "horny girlfriend" Charlotte, saying he had sex with her multiple times, and tells them of his "date" with her later that night.

Simon, Jay and Neil also decide to come when Will unwittingly tells them of his date. Friday arrives and the boys head to the disco. Simon meets Hannah, who then kisses him and gives him a handjob, during which Simon is attacked by much younger pupil Danny in retribution for accidentally colliding with him at school earlier that day. The boy gets pulled away and conspires with his older and more threatening friends, so Simon, Jay and Neil hide in the toilets. Will goes to Charlotte for help, but she refuses when one of his colleagues from the garage turns up and relays all of the things Will had said he and Charlotte had done. This infuriates Charlotte and she throws a drink from the bar in Will's face. Will phones his mother before joining the boys in the toilets, and after being informed over the building's intercom that she has arrived to pick them up, much to the amusement of the attendees, they leave in shame.
