The TransJakarta Corridors are the routes used by the TransJakarta bus rapid transit system. For most of the route, the buses run on dedicated bus lanes closed to normal vehicles. With total corridor length reaching 230.9 kilometers, TransJakarta has the longest BRT coverage in the world.[1] On February 28, 2018, the ridership reached 500,000 passengers per day.[2] The first corridor was opened in 2004, with eleven more corridors following few years after. Due to crushing traffic jam in the capital, operational hours of both Transjakarta and KRL Jabodetabek have been steadily extended, especially since Jokowi became governor, then replaced by Ahok, his deputy who made more improvement of the TransJakarta system with adding more buses and new feeder lines.
All Transjakarta services operate from 05.00 to 23.00 from Sunday to Thursday, while Friday and Saturday up to 24.00.[3] Amari (angkutan malam hari or night transport) and andini (angkutan dini hari or early morning transport) will serve in all main corridors aside from corridors 4, 7, 11 and 12 that only operates on normal hours. Amari and andini only stop at the selected stations.[4] Though it is a bus rapid transit, some lines lack dedicated lanes and frequent service, for example, the new extension into Bekasi city (the first line to extend past the city limit).[5]
In December 2015, Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) announced that 6 corridors from existing 12 corridors got international standard with bronze category. There are 4 categories, i.e. Basic Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Bronze BRT, Silver BRT and Gold BRT. The six corridors were corridor 1 (Blok M-Kota), corridor 2 (Harmoni-Pulogadung), corridor 3 (Harmoni-Kalideres), corridor 5 (Ancol-Kampung Melayu), corridor 6 (Ragunan-Dukuh Atas), and corridor 9 (Pluit-Pinang Ranti).[6]
Main Corridors
TransJakarta serves 13 operational main corridors with 2 more planned. All main corridors uses high BRT stops and the bus stops at all shelters in a corridor. The first corridor began operation at February 2004. The latest, Corridor 13, started operation in August 2017.
