Thakor

The Thakor are a Sub cast of Kshatriya Koli community living in Gujarat in India[1]

History and origin

The Thakor claim to have originated in Gujarat. They are found in the districts of Mehsana, Patan, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Baroda, and. They have a number of clans, called Ataks, the chief ones being the Bargujar, Makwana, Solanki, Parmar, Chauhan, Lenchiya, Vaghela, Dabhi, and like other kshatriya Hindu communities, they maintain the custom of clan exogamy.[4]
