Simlapal is a census town, with a police station, in Simlapal CD Block in Khatra subdivision of Bankura district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Simlapal had a total population of 7,206 of which 3,693 (51%) were males and 3,513 (49%) were females. Population below 6 years was 927. The total number of literates in Simlapal was 4,374 (69.66% of the population over 6 years).[1]

The headquarters of Simlapal CD Block are located at Simlapal.[4]

Transport

State Highway 2 (West Bengal) running from Bankura to Malancha (in North 24 Parganas district) and State Highway 9 (West Bengal) running from Durgapur (in Paschim Bardhaman district) to Nayagram (in Jhargram district) pass through Simlapal.[5]

Education

Simlapal College of Education is a private non-aided college offering courses leading to the Bachelor of Education degree. It was established in 2009 and affiliated to the University of Burdwan in 2012.[6][7]

Simlapal Madan Mohan High School was established in 1938 by Madan Mohan Singha Chowdhury, the raja of Simlapal.[8] There is a girls' school, Simlapal Mangalmoyee Balika Vidyamandir(H.S)

Healthcare

Simlapal Block Public Health Centre functions as the central facility in Simlapal, with three Public Health Centres at Lakshmisagar, Hatibari and Arrah and 21 subcentres.[9]
