Roads in Pune

Pune is a city in the state of Maharashtra in India.

Pune ring road

This is a proposed ring road to avoid traffic congestion in Pune City. As the name says, ring road is a circular road. This will cover 29 villages of Pune district in Pune's neighbourhood. They are Kesnand, Wagholi, Bhivandi, Tulapur, Alandi, Kelgaon, Chimbli, Nighoje, Sangrude, Shelarwadi, Shirgaon, Chandkhed, Rihe, Gothawade, Pirangut, Uradve, Mutha Bahuli, Sangrun, Nigde, Khamgaon, Ghera Sinhagad, Kalyan, Kondhanpur, Sriramnagar, Gogalwadi, Patharwadi, Bhivri and Kanifnath. The total length of this road is about 161.73 km with total cost ₹104.08 billion (US$1.4 billion).^[1][2]

Mumbai-Pune-Satara road

The northern part is called Mumbai road. It is the part of NH-48 (Mumbai-Chennai). It starts from a square in front of College of Engineering Pune, popularly known as COEP, in the suburb of Shivaji Nagar (earlier Bhamburde). This highway passes through the boundaries of two Municipal Corporations (namely Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad), two Cantonments (namely Khadki and Dehu road). The industrial areas in the incorporated township of Pimpri-Chinchwad also lie alongside this road and you can see various large industrial units located along the way. Prominent places on this road include College of Engineering Pune at Shivajinagar, College of Military Engineering at Dapodi, the Khadki and Dehu Road Ammunition Factories and Hindustan Antibiotics (HA) at Pimpri. Major Industrial units are situated in the industrial estates owned by the MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation). Prominent names among these include Telo, Philips, Garware, Bajaj, Kinetic and Elpro. The Army's AOC (Army Ordnance Corps) and the Army Supply Corp (ASC)’s 512 Base Repair Depot is located in the cantonment town of Dehu road on this road. The CRPF Regional Center (Central Reserve Police Force) and the NARI or National AIDS Research Institute is located at Talegaon Dabhade. Talegaon Dabhade is also the site for the upcoming General Motors car manufacturing facility. The road runs almost parallel to the Mumbai Pune Railway line until Khandala. This is the longest road in Pune and covers many outlying suburbs from Shivajinagar, Khadki, Nigdi, Talegaon Dabhade, Dehu road, and the tourist attractions, the twin hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala. Afterwards it enters the steep mountainous section of the Bhor Ghat to go to Mumbai. This road, measured from Pune up to Mumbai, is nearly 156 km in length.

The southern part is called Satara road. It is the part of NH-4 (Mumbai-Chennai). It starts from Jedhe chowk (earlier Swargate). This road leads to the town of Satara in the southern part of Maharashtra. Pune's first multiplex, City Pride, has been built along this road. Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park(Katraj Zoo), Bharati Vidyapeeth and Pune Vidhyarthi Griha's Engineering College come across this road. The Rapid way of Public Transport was firstly started on this road as "Bus Rapid Transport (BRT)". Due to the increase in traffic on this road in the past years, the Pune Municipal Corporation has constructed two flyovers, one from Swargate Bus Terminus to Panchami Hotel and the other from Padmavati to Bharati Vidyapeeth/Katraj. The construction of these two flyovers has considerably reduced the travel time between Swargate to Katraj 7 km route and also the heavy traffic, this highway had been facing over the years. Another flyover is also under construction which will start on the Satara road and end on Tilak road. This will help to systematize the traffic going towards Tilak road. A new flyover is under construction between Shankar Maharaj Math in Chavan Nagar and Bharti Vidyapeeth near Katraj. This will be of four lanes.^[3]

Dehu Road–Katraj bypass

The Dehu Road–Katraj bypass (also known as Westerly bypass or simply Pune bypass) is a metropolitan highway serving the city of Pune, India. It passes through outer parts of Pune City. The highway stretches 40 km^[4] from Dehu Road in the north to Katraj in the south. It is generally 6 lanes wide (3 in each direction) and certain sections feature separate service lanes.^[5] Further, it features around a dozen overpasses/flyovers. It is a part of the National Highway 48. The highway was constructed in 1989. It was widened in early 2000s by the National Highways Authority of India from a 2-lane to a 4-lane highway. The authorities widened the highway and built several over-bridges making it almost traffic light-free. One of the most important software parks of the city in Hinjawadi is situated along this highway. Also the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, where the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games were held, is located along this road. All westbound roads of the city intersect this bypass.

Pune-Solapur road

This road is part of Pune-Machillipatnam National Highway (NH-65). This road starts from Pulgate to Hadapsar and ahead to Solapur. From Pulgate this road is also connected to Swargate by Shankarsheth road. This road has a portion of Rainbow BRTS from Pulgate to Hadapsar. The Pune Race Course and Magarpatta is located on this road.

Pune-Ahmednagar road

Pune Ahmnednagar highway (MH SH-27) is abbreviated as Nagar road. It links Pune to the city of Ahmednagar. It starts from suburb of Yerawada and passes through Yerawada, Kalyani Nagar, Vimannagar, Chandan Nagar, Wagholi to Ahmednagar. The road to Pune International Airport offshoots from Nagar road. Nagar road houses many hotels, restaurants, Malls, Tech Parks and educational institutes. Various five-star hotels such as Hyatt, Novotel, Maple, Parc Estique, Four Points^[6] lie on this road. Huge malls such as Inorbit and Phoenix Market City are prominent buildings along the highway. Major and most sought after schools like Lexicon International School are on this road. It experiences heavy traffic all day around. This road is connected to the suburb of Kharadi (connected by the Mundhwa Bypass road). Kharadi is an important IT Hub and houses several large IT companies and also the World Trade Center, Pune chapter and Eon IT SEZ. Large hotels like Radisson are also in this area along with several upmarket residential complexes.

Pune-Nashik road

This road connects the cities of Nashik and Pune. The Pune-Nashik National Highway (NH-60) starts at Nashik Phata in Kasarwadi, a suburb on Mumbai-Pune National Highway (NH-48). Sangamner and Narayangaon are the important stops on the way towards Nashik. This highway is widened from Nashik Phata till Rajgurunagar (45 km).

Pune-Saswad road

This road starts from Saswad Fata in Hadapsar, a suburb on Pune-Solapur road and continues to Saswad, Jejuri and Satara where it merges with (NH-48) (Mumbai-Chennai). This road has been converted to six lanes and has been concreted up to Phursungi and is two-lane thereafter. This road passes through sub urban area Phursungi and Kale Padal. The two lane segment between Phursungi and Saswad is also being converted to four lanes. Work has been completed between Saswad and Dive ghat. There is also a road that connects this road to Katraj. It is known as Katraj-Uruli Devachi Bypass. The landmarks on Saswad road are Hadapsar gliding centre, Tukai Tekdi, S.P Infocity, Mastani Talao and the scenic Dive Ghat. S.P. Infocity is home to many MNCs like IBM, Accenture, Syntel and ADP. Gliding center is converted into a Heliport. This road is also one of important roads used by devotees walking towards Pandharpur during Pandharpur Wari.

Katraj-Uruli Devachi bypass

This is an important road connects between Solapur road and Satara road bypassing the city. A large number of citizen staying in upcoming areas of Undri and established areas like Kondhwa use this road daily.

Paud road

An offshoot of Karve road, this road starts from Paud Phata in suburb of Erandwane to Paud. Main areas on this road include Paud phata, Kelewadi, Shrimangal Society, Mayur Colony, Rambaug Colony, Alkapuri Society, Mahaganesh Colony, Ideal Colony, Shivtirthnagar, Aanand Nagar, Bharti Vidyapeeth Corner, MIT Corner, Jai Bhavani Nagar, Shikshak Nagar, Gananjay Society, Gujrath Colony, Shastri Nagar, Bhusari Colony, Kothrud PMPML depot, Chandani Chowk, Bhugaon and Pirangut. The famous educational institutions of Bharti Vidhyapeeth, MIT and MIT School of Management are on this road. Durga Cafe is also on this road, near to MIT engineering college. Vanaz company is situated near Gujrath Colony. This road intersects Dehu Road–Katraj bypass at Chandani Chowk. The Pirangut Ghat is located on this road.

Tanaji Malusare road (earlier Sinhagad road)

Starting at the Sarasbaug junction (near Swargate), this road goes straight to the Sinhagad Fort Base or Payatha at Donje, all the way up to the Atkarwadi terminating at Sinhagad fort. This road connects Swargate with Anandnagar, Manik Baug, Vadgaon Phata, Dhayri Phata, Nanded, Khadakwasla and Sinhagad. One of the major attractions on this road is the 'Pu La Deshpande Udyan' or 'Okayama Friendship garden' which is a Japanese themed park.This road goes parallel to the Mutha Right bank water canal and to the Mutha River. The Khadakwasla Dam is on one side of this road and lots of people throng on the banks of the dam during evenings and in rainy seasons when the water level rises. The important institutions of IAT or Institute of Armament Technology at Girinagar, and the CWPRS or Central Water and Power Research Station, are located on this road. Sinhagad Institute is one of the major assets on the road along with Abhiruchi Mall. There has been a rise in outlets of consumer brands and fast food joints and coffee shops along this road. One can switch over to Mumbai-Bengaluru highway from this road at the Vadgaon-Dhayari flyover. There is a huge slum on the slopes of the Parvati hills which run parallel to this road from Dandekar bridge to Rajaram bridge. Specific localities include Dandekar Bridge, Vitthalwadi, Ganeshmala, Panmala, Dattawadi, Hingne, Anand Nagar, Vadgaon, Dhayri, Khadakwasla. Large Housing Colonies which are based along this road include Rakshalekha, Gharkul Chinmay Shivprasad society, Sarita Nagari, Sarita Vaibhav, DSK Vishwa, Amarendra Priyadarshini society, Nanded City, Ganga Bhagyoday, Amrut Ganga society etc. Ganga Bhagyoday and Amrut Ganga society and Nanded city on the outskirts of Pune are among the plush societies on this road.

Shivaji road

This road is named after a Maratha Empire king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is also called as Shivaji Road in short. This road connects Shivajinagar to Jedhe Chowk (Swargate). This is the most important road in old Pune. This was the only road earlier to traverse from Shivajinagar to Jedhe Chowk (Swargate) and thus be on Mumbai-Pune National Highway. This acts as alternating road to Bajirao road as this road is one way from Shaniwarwada palace to Jedhe Chowk, Swargate. This road is two way from Shaniwarwada palace to Barve Chowk and then one way till end with flow of traffic from Barve Chowk to Pune University road (Ambedkar road). The famous Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple and the Mandai Market are on this road. The bridge on Mutha river on this road is named as Chhatrapati Shivaji Bridge (formally called as Navapul or Lloyd's bridge) which is one of the oldest bridge in Pune. A skywalk is proposed along this road.

Bajirao road

The road is named after great Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao I. Bajirao road is an important road in Pune which stretches from Puram Chowk to Shaniwarwada palace. This is an important road due to its location in main market area of Pune. The famous shop of Chitale bandhu mithaiwale Sweets is located on this road. Landmarks located on this road include the Tulshibaug market and buildings like Vishrambaug-wada. This is a one way road with traffic flow from Puram Chowk to Shaniwarwada palace. The road passes though famous areas of Shanipar and Appa Balwant Chowk (ABC) and finally ends near Shaniwarwada palace. The headquarters of Bank of Maharashtra and Amit Enterprises Housing Limited are located on this road.

Tilak road

The road is named after great freedom fighter "Lokmanya Tilak". It runs between Deccan Gymkhana and Swargate (Bus Terminus). Sir Parshurambhau College (SP College), Nehru Stadium and Tilak Smarak Ranga Mandir are prominent landmarks. JyotirVidya Parisanstha, the oldest functioning Amateur Astronomy Organization in India, dedicated in propagating astronomy amongst the general public and having a membership base of around 500 members, is located at the Tilak Smarak Ranga Mandir.

Laxmi road

Named after Goddess Mahalaxmi, the road passes through the older and seedier parts of the city. It is famous for publishing houses like Nirali and Manali Prakashan. The road is famous for its variety of ready made garments and jewellery shops which attract shoppers from all over the city. The road is the venue for Laxmi puja during the festival of Diwali. After the puja, shopkeepers of the road light fire works as a mark of celebration. This road is worth visiting during the Ganapati festival, Ganesh immersion processions pass through this road every year to the Mutha river. There are many old and famous educational institutions in and around this road like Nutan Marathi Vidyalaya (NMV High School), HujurPaga (HHCP) Girls' School.

Kumthekar road

This road is named after R. B. Kumthekar, Chief Officer, Poona City Municipality, 1889–1912. This road runs parallel to Laxmi road. This road has lot of famous Indian ethnic wear shops.

Jangli Maharaj road

Jangli (also spelled Jangali) Maharaj road, better known as J.M. road, is named after Sadguru Jangali Maharaj who’s "Math" or Ashram lies on this road. Adjacent to this shrine is the Pataleshwar temple entirely carved in rock which probably was constructed more than 1300 years ago. It starts from the Sancheti Hospital Intersection at Shivajinagar, a suburb of Pune, and heads straight up to Deccan Gymkhana where it ends at the Garware Bridge at Shivajinagar. J. M. road has a large number of international consumer brands having their outlets and showrooms on this road. It has one of India's first Pizza Hut outlets,^[7] along with a large number of fast food joints and coffee shops. J. M. road is now a new destination for Rajdhani Thalis too. "Palette, The Food Court", serving range of cuisines. A large public garden called Sambhaji Park occupies a large section on one side of the road. This garden was built and designed under the supervision of M.D. Dalvi, Chief Officer and City Engineer Poona City Municipality between 1939-1944 and later Chief Engineer to His Highness The Nawab of Junagadh Sir Muhammad Mahabat Khanji III Rasul Khanji in the erstwhile princely state of Junagarh between 1945-48 where he also made many developments. Mr M.D.Dalvi was son of Raosaheb Dinanath Atmaram Dalvi(MA,LLB) Subordinate Judge Bombay Presidency and Author of book "An Examination of Sir Issac Newton's Rule for finding Imaginary Square Roots in an equation". The Bal Gandharva Rangamandir (Bal Gandharva Auditorium) stands at the corner of Sambhaji Park and J. M. road. A statue of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi in front of Bal Gandharva Rangamandir is a landmark on this road. Famous for its many restaurants, J. M. road is one of the busiest places in Pune. Jangli Maharaj road is not only the first 80 feet road but also the first tar road in the city of Pune. It was built under the supervision of M. D. Dalvi. BA, AMIES (Glasgow) Chief Officer of Poona City Municipality between 1939–1944. His quaint English bungalow with the Flaming glory bower/Bleeding Heart vine on the side which gives beautiful blossoms in the winter and the Rangoon creeper still stands to date on Jangli Maharaj road which he built in 1939.

Gokhale road (earlier Fergusson College road)

The road gets its name from Fergusson College, an educational institute established alongside in 1885. The road starts at the Agriculture College – Police Parade Ground junction at Shivajinagar, suburb of Pune and ends at Deccan Gymkhana. Another institute on the road is the Department of Communication and Foreign Languages – Ranade Institute, offering courses in journalism, e-learning and foreign languages. It offers courses to learn foreign languages including German, French, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. Prominent institutions such as Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce and Agharkar Research Institute are also located off this road on BMCC road. In addition, FC road is also the venue of the British Council Library. The Times of India, Pune office stands parallel to the library. Chains like Barista, Cafe Coffee Day, Domino's, Subway, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Starbucks, Pizza Hut and Monginis have outlets here. Cafe Good Luck, established in 1935, one of Pune's oldest and most popular restaurants and Irani cafe is also located here.^[8] Cafe Good Luck has been serving its brand of tea and bun-maska since 1935. The famous twin restaurants Roopali and Vaishali, both serve Udupi-style vegetarian food. There are various other good restaurants like Wadeshwar, Niranjan, Venky's Chicken, By The Way, Yana Sizzlers, and many more which are popular through the city for good service and better quality of hygienic food. Popular Book House, International Book Service, Archies, Greetwell, Venus Traders, Super Shoppe and Sagar Arcade are some of the prime commercial establishments. Hong Kong Lane is another attraction, a narrow lane with small shops on either side, popular for some inexpensive items like bags, belts, wallets, and junk jewellery. You can also find a lot of stalls here stocked up with the latest fashion trends in clothes and footwear for both men & women. In addition, the temples of the 'Padukas', that is, the wooden sandals of the saints, Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj at Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk and Sant Tukaram Maharaj at the Tukaram Paduka Chowk stand on this road.

Shankar Sheth road

The road is named after Jaganath Shunkerseth, one of the most well-known philanthropist and educationalist in India. This road connects Swargate to Pulgate via Golibar Maidan. A patch of Katraj-Swargate-Hadapsar route of Rainbow BRTS lies on this road. This road also has a flyover bridge near Swargate.

Bhandarkar road

The road gets its name from the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute which was established here on 6 July 1917 in remembrance of Ramakrishna Gopal Bhandarkar, who may be justifiably regarded as the foremost pioneer of scientific orientology in this country. This road starts from one end of Law College road right opposite to the entrance of the Bhandarkar Institute and ends at the Cafe Good Luck intersection at Deccan Gymkhana. One of the upmarket residential areas in Pune, Bhandarkar road connects Law College road to Fergusson College road. Though one finds mostly residential complexes in this area, there are a few commercial outlets as well. Most major banks have an office on this road- namely ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, Bank of Baroda and others. Other commercial establishments include a TVS Motor Company showroom and service center, a few small restaurants like 'Spring Onion', grocery shops and pharmacies. This road extends for a kilometre with the Good Luck cafe at its eastern end, which is a popular place for the locals to socialise in the mornings and evenings. There are many institutes (coaching centres, Language institutes, computer institutes etc.) in the locality. These include BSE Institute Limited, Achievers Point, Spark, IIPM, Enrich Salons and Academy and others .A popular South-Indian restaurant named 'Rangoli' stood at the Law College road end of Bhandarkar road. This restaurant was renovated a few years ago and occupied by a Costa Coffee outlet. There is also a school for the hearing impaired off this road. The prestigious sports clubs, namely- Deccan Gymkhana and PYC Hindu Gymkhana are located off this road. There is one of the oldest milk dairies in the city, Sane Dairy, located on this road. Bhandarkar road was home to the noted Marathi writer, orator, performing artist and comedian, the late Pu La Deshpande.

Prabhat road

This road is named after the legendary Prabhat Studios, which made movies and films in the '20s and '30s right up to the '60s. The road ends at the Film and Television Institute of India which is the old erstwhile Prabhat Film Studio. It is now better known for the upmarket and higher middle echelons of society who live on various lanes intersecting this road. All the roads criss-crossing this road are named 'Prabhat road lanes', number 1,2,3,4… etc. or 'Prabhat road Gullee' no 1,2,3,4...' in Marathi. On offshoots from the Bhandarkar road, Kamala Nehru Park lies at the Northern end of this road. Some of the important places located on this road include the Deccan Gymkhana as well as the Tilak tank, which is well known for its Olympic size swimming pool producing many national and international swimmers and water polo players and as the home of the famous Deccan Gymkhana water polo team. The Symbiosis school and also Sou Vimlabai Garware Junior College is also located on this road. A historic Lodge or Motel aptly named the Prabhat Lodge is located at the start of this road.

Karve road and NDA road

This road is named after the legendary social reformer Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve. The road connects all the places on one side of the Mutha River and runs parallel to it. It is one of the longest & busiest roads within the city, and the most polluted too. It connects the Deccan area near the Garware Flyover – Lakdi Bridge junction to the densely populated Kothrud and Warje suburbs. Pune's First Flyover, going towards Paud was constructed on this road, in 1998. A few of Pune's prestigious colleges and schools, such as the Abasaheb Garware College, Abhinav Vidyalaya, and Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School, lie just off this road. Nal Stop and Karishma Society Chowk are some of its main junctions. It has the most number of Jewellery shops, after Laxmi road. Some of the famous Jewellery shops are Ranka Jewelers, Ashtekar Jewelers, Rajmal-Lakhichand, Laagu-Bandhu, Vaman-Hari-Pethe, etc. It has many good hotels and restaurants like Chinese Oriental, Anand-Pure-Veg, Girija, along with some of the brands like Pizza-hut, Cafe-Coffee-Day, Domino's, Kahwa Cafe, McDonald's.

NDA road begins from at the end of Karve road and goes up to Uttamnagar NDA Gate (Kondhwa Gate). This connects the National Defense Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla to Pune.

Shirole road

This road is named after Shiledar Shirole Patil family, the residents of Shivajinagar (earlier Bhamburde) village. This road connects Fergusson College (FC) gate on FC road to Jangli Maharaj road. Jog's Bird Breeding Centre lies here. This is mostly a residential area commanding higher property prices.

Pune University road

This road starts from the Indian Meteorological Department (also called Shimla office) intersection and ends at the University of Pune Circle. University road has four lanes throughout, and at places it is even six lanes wide. Several important institutions are on this road, prominent among these are the SSC Board or the State Secondary School Examination Board’s head office, the Bank of Maharashtra’s All India head office, the Agriculture College, Vaikunthnath Mehta Institute of Cooperative Management, Catering College, the Government Polytechnic Pune or GPP, the Police Parade Ground, RBI's College of Agricultural Banking, Shivaji Nagar Bus Terminus, Rahul Theatre, multiplex E-Square, several 3 and 4 star hotels, NABARD and University of Pune with its sprawling campus.

B.T. Kawade road

B.T. Kawade stands for Bhagavan Tatyasaheb Kawade road, popularly known as BTK, is located near Pune Cantonment. BTK divides Mundhwa and Ghorpadi, on the East being Mundhwa and on the West, Ghorpadi. Sopan Baug lies on the other side of railway line of BT Kawade road. Prominent business houses like Kalyani Group and B.G. Shirke construction & Siporex (I) Industries are located off BTK road. The BTK road area is directly connected to Solapur road near Croma/Krome Mall. The Krome Mall, Vishal Mega Mart, Reliance Mart etc. have become the landmarks for this area. With Reliance Fresh, Kawade Petrol Pump, this road is geared up for the latest infrastructure. The major housing societies on this road are Eastern court, The Turf, Sicilia, Silver Dale, Citadel, Solace Park, Palm groves, Yellow Blossoms, Ganga Pavilion,Manish Vihar Society, etc. BTK boasts of many more upcoming highrises. Pune's most sought after schools like The Bishop's School, St. Mary's School, St. Vincent's High School, St. Anne's School, and higher education wise, MCE Society's Abeda Inamdar Senior College for Arts, Science & Commerce, Nowrosji Wadia college, to name a few are easily accessible from this road. For the religious minded, there are number of small Ganesh temples, a larger Balaji Temple which is must visit for its south Indian style architecture and St. Mary's church at start of the road. 5 stars hotels, prominent clubs, multiplexes and well-known hospitals are also accessible from this road. 

North Main road and South Main road

North Main road and South Main road are located in Koregaon Park. The roads connect Koregaon Park road to Mundhwa. They are considered as one of the most upbeat streets in Pune and house many 5 star hotels, speciality restaurants, discotheques, pubs, shopping malls as well as retail outlets of domestic and international brands. Lanes connecting North Main road and South Main road are housed with luxurious properties of some of the most renowned business tycoons, military officials, politicians and landlords of Pune. The Osho International Meditation Resort and Inlaks & Budhrani Hospital are located at Lane 1. On 13 February 2010, Pune experienced bomb explosion at German Bakery on this road.

M.G. road and East street

It stands for Moledina Grant road.^[9] It ends at Pulgate. The MG road is a one way i.e. one can only travel from the direction of Shankershet road towards Ambedkar Square.^[10] Aurora Towers is an important commercial building and landmark here.

Running parallel to this road is East Street. Its also one way. Many old and well-known shops, restaurants, bakeries and medical or optical practices are based here.

Senapati Bapat road

This road starts at the BMCC (Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce) road - ILS Law College road junction and meanders its way through a tiny mountain pass called in Marathi as the "Khind". The road terminates off Pune University Circle on the Ganesh Khind road. At the beginning of this road lies a group headquarters of the NCC and Balbharati Bhavan. The very Old Chaturshingi Devi Temple lies on this road and a very famous annual street fair is held near the venue during the festival of Navaratri. Maharashtra's first Shantanurao Kirloskar International Convention Center (ICC) is located on this very road itself. A lot of IT and BPO companies viz. Cross Country Infotech, BMC Software, Persistent Systems, MWH Global and Cognizant Technology Solutions have huge infrastructures on this road. A Buddhist Pagoda and also a Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial have been constructed on the hill located on this road. Also companies like CTS, HCL, Siemens located in ICC Building, Yardi Software India PVT LTD located in Muttha Chambers and Sigma House. BitWise Solutions Pvt Ltd is located on SB road. The JW Marriott five star hotel is also located here. The Pavilion Mall along the road consists of upmarket brands such as Zara, Steve Madden, Superdry and international chains such as Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays etc. with a 6-screen PVR icon multiplex and much more. The Symbiosis International University (the campuses of Symbiosis School of Economics, Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences,Symbiosis College of Nursing and Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce) is located on this road.

Law College road

The Indian Law society's very old and prestigious ILS Law College has a campus extending to a large section on the right side of this road, and giving its name to the road. The road starting at the intersection of BMCC road-Senapati Bapat road junction, right opposite to the NCC Parade ground, and flowing steadily on a sloping gradient up to Nal stop on Karve Road. The famous Film and Television Institute of India, the National Film Archive of India and Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute are located here. Primarily an area for academics, containing posh areas like Kanchan Galli, the road goes up to the beautiful Hanuman Tekdi and the Hanuman Temple. The important Educational institutions of Panditrao Agashe School, Abhinav Vidyalaya and INDSEARCH lie on this road. There are many good food joints including Cafe Coffee Day, Barista, Mochaa and Wadeshwar.

Dhole Patil road

The Dhole Patil road is under the title of the Damodar Narayan Dholepatil who was a prominent personality in the city. This road leads to one of the posh residential and commercial localities of Pune. It also connects to the Boat Club road which is known for its extravagant real estate prices. Regency Hotel and Hotel Kapila, opposite of Ameya Library are the landmarks here. This is a very food-friendly locale. It also has a number of eateries such as Nandoo's Parathas and Zamu's sizzlers. Dhole Patil road also boasts of the Ganesh and Hanuman temples which are visited by eastern Puneites. It has all the best restaurants in pune both cheap and expensive. The Dhole Patil road is also famous for Kapila Kathi Kabab a small kiosk which offers Vegetarian as well as Non-Vegetarian rolls. The Madhuban hotel at Dhole Patil road also attracts Vegetarians as the food quality is pretty good. Dhole Patil road also has Reliance Fresh Super Mart.

G. A. Kulkarni road

This road is named after one of the greatest Marathi short story writer G. A. Kulkarni. This is one of major roads in the Kothrud suburb of Pune. The importance if this road has increased due to many new developments alongside it. Residential apartment schemes (such as Karishma, Swapna-Shilpa), multiplex cinema (City Pride), industrial estate (Kothrud Industrial Estate, Sangam Press, Joshi's Museum of Miniature Railway, etc.), commercial buildings and complexes, shops and local markets are the major landmarks. This road connects Karve road at one end and reaches parts of Karve Nagar.

Swami Vivekanand road

Also known as Bibvewadi road, this road was primarily constructed as an alternative to Satara road. It connects to Bibvewadi, a suburb of Pune. VIT college of engineering lies on this road. At the end of this road lies Upper Indira Nagar. Ramyanagari, Kothari Block, Premnagar, Bibwewadi, Mahesh Society, Lower Indira Nagar are some of the main offs of this road.

Vithalrao Vandekar road

Vithalrao Vandekar road is named by Pune Municipal Corporation in honour of one of the great sons and social reformer of India – Vithalrao Krishnaji Vandekar. Vithalrao Vandekar road stretches for almost 2 km running from Nagarwala School Chowk to Aga Khan Bridge. Aga Khan Bridge connects Koregaon Park with Kalyani Nagar. Software companies like Cyabage, HSBC, Wadia's Stud Farm etc. are situated on this scenic riverside road. Gold Gym in Kalyani Nagar is also situated on this road.

Baner-Pashan Link road

This road links the suburbs of Pashan and Baner. This 3-kilometre-long (1.9 mi) road has a line of residential apartments on either side, with couple of eating places.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Link road

This road connects Pimpri to Chinchwad apart from the Mumbai-Pune highway. The road starts at Pimpri from the Dr. Ambedkar chowk and ends at Chaphekar chowk in Chinchwad.

Aundh-Ravet road

This route runs from Aundh to Ravet, this one of the alternative road to Mumbai Pune highway, which connects twin cities Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. This road connects Aundh to Hinjawadi via Wakad and to Ravet via Jagtap Dairy, Kalewadi Phata & Dange Chowk and Tathawade and Punawale. Two flyovers have been built to surpass major junctions at Kalewadi Phata and Dange Chowk. This BRTS is first in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and is of length 14.2 km which ends at Mukai Chowk, Kiwale. Major areas connected by this road are Sangvi (Pimpri-Chinchwad), Pimple Nilakh, Pimple Saudagar, Rahatani, Wakad, Thergaon, Tathawade, Punawale and Ravet.
