National Highway 9 (NH 9) is a major East-West running National Highway in India. Starting at Malaut, the highway ends at Askot[1] in Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand while passing through the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.[2] After renumbering of all national highways by National Highway Authority of India in 2010, the current NH 9 was formed by merging five differently numbered national highways in 2010, including Old NH 10 (Fazilka-Delhi section), Old NH 24 (Delhi-Rampur section), Old NH 87 (Rampur-Rudrapur section), Old NH 74 (Rudrapur-Sitarganj-Khatima section) and Old NH 125 (Tanakpur-Pithoragarh section).

In fy2018-19 budget on 9 March 2018, Captain Abhimanyu, Finance Minister of Haryana, announced that the Government of Haryana's proposal is awaiting approval from the union minister of roads for converting Hisar Airport to National Expressway 2 (KMP) section into a 6 lane controlled area expressway so that the 134 km distance be covered within 75 minutes.[3]
