Rivers of Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir has many lakes, rivers, and glaciers. Significant rivers that flow through Jammu & Kashmir from the Himalayas flow in to the river basins of Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Ravi and Indus.[1] These river basins are located at a higher elevation facilitating huge hydro power potential.[2] Major lakes include Manasbal Lake, Dal Lake,Wular Lake, Nageen Lake, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Tso Kar, Spanggur Tso. There are a total of around 1230 water bodies are in Jammu & Kashmir.[3]
