Ostrovačice (German: Schwarzkirchen) is a market town (městys) in Brno-Country District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic.

The town covers an area of 86 km2, and has a population of 672 (2012).

Ostrovačice lies approximately 15 km west of Brno.

History

Until 1918, the town (bilingual name SCHWARZKIRCHEN - OSTROVAČICE) was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), in the BRÜNN (Brno) district, in Moravia.[1] The German name only was used before 1867.
