Nová Říše (Czech pronunciation: [ˈnovaːˈr̝iːʃɛ]); German Neureisch) is a village and municipality (obec) in Jihlava District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of 7.85 square kilometres (3.03 sq mi), and has a population of 855 (as at 2005).

Nová Říše lies approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Jihlava and 134 km (83 mi) south-east of Prague.

The area has an old Norbertine monastery. Five members of the community were gassed to death by the Nazis in 1942.[1] Surviving monks were sentenced to prison and labour camps by the Communists in 1950. The buildings were given back to the Order after the fall of Communism in 1991. [2]
