Northwest Rapid Transit (NRT) is a consortium of MTR Corporation, John Holland, CPB Contractors, UGL Rail and Plenary Group that will build stations, procure trains and operate services on the Sydney Metro Northwest from 2019.

History

In June 2014, NRT was selected by Transport for New South Wales to build stations, procure trains and operate services on the Sydney Metro Northwest network in a $3.7 billion public–private partnership.[1][2] John Holland and CPB Contractors are currently building new stations at Tallawong, Rouse Hill, Kellyville, Bella Vista, Norwest, Hills Showground, Castle Hill and Cherrybrook.[3]

Metro Trains Sydney Pty Ltd, a joint venture between MTR Corporation (60%), John Holland (20%) and UGL Rail (20%), will operate the network with a fleet of 22 Alstom Metropolis trains for 15 years when it opens in 2019.[4][5][6] The same companies are also partners in Metro Trains Melbourne that has operated the Melbourne suburban network since 2009.[7]
