The Morocco 2030 FIFA World Cup bid is a bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup by Morocco.[1][2][3][4][5] The bid was announced and it will be led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The bid was officially confirmed on 15 June 2018.[2]
On 25 July 2018, Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa, confirmed Morocco will apply for the 2030 World Cup bid.[6]
Background
The 2030 bid is Morocco's sixth bid to host the FIFA World Cup after a record five unsuccessful attempts in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026. If successful, it will be the second African country, after the 2010 tournament in South Africa, as well as the second Arab and Muslim country after the 2022 tournament in Qatar, as well as the first time in North Africa.[7]
Possible joint bid
Morocco is potentially planning on a joint bid with Algeria and Tunisia.[8]
On 29 September 2018, the executive board of the Union of North African Football Federations (UNAF) announced that it will submit a tri-partite bid for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.[9][10]
