Geography

The earlier census town was combined with other urban units to form Dhanbad Municipal Corporationin 2006.[1][2]

Lakarka is part of Ward No. 4 of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation.[3]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[4] Lakarka had a population of 6,962. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Lakarka has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 40%. In Lakarka, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
