Facilities

Layout of Central Bus Terminus, Erode

The bus terminus have been modernized with concrete flooring, high mast lamps and the introduction of various extension counters, e-governance facilities and bank ATMs.[3]

An air conditioned passenger waiting hall, a reverse osmosis water treatment plant and a separate station for mini-buses are in operation.[4] An underground parking facility has been constructed for two-wheelers and a multi level shopping complex has been developed along with additional public convenience facilities inside the complex.[5]

Plans for the Future

The bus station handles about more than 1200 buses every day. Due to the increasing number of services, the bus station is nearing its full operating capacity. And the core-centric location of the terminus causes heavy traffic congestion on the narrow city roads.[6]

So, the Corporation is planning to construct two satellite bus terminals at Solar(Erode South) and Chithode(Erode North) to share the handling of intercity bus services as a measure to reduce the traffic flow in core city. [7]
