Indian-Bosnian relations are the bilateral ties between India and Bosnia and Herzegovina.Budapest is concurrently accredited to Sarajevo as resident mission and embassy purposes while Bosnia and Herzegovina has its office in New Delhi.[1]

History

India and Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH) enjoy warm and friendly relations and BiH regards India has a great variety in the cultural and the religious democracy and BiH relates herself with India in such perspectives. Yugoslavia reminds of Jawaharlal Nehru and Josip Broz Tito relations and it is more interesting to observe that Nehru and Indira Gandhi are still found as household names in some regions of the country.[1]

Economic relations

Trade between Bosnia and India is modest in the range of US$ 50 million. The main reason behind the trade not high enough are insufficiency of enough finances and awareness augmented with banking network which is weak between the both nations as well as lack of reliable credit facilities. Bosnia being a land-locked country, has the main sea port reliance on the Croatian Port of Ploce due to which, the use of the port is limited.[1][2][3] In 2006, a session was organized related to Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation between Bosnia & Herzegovina and India. Investments were sought in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which the focussed sectors were textile, auto parts, infrastructure projects and pharmaceutical sectors.[4] An event was organized by the MCC Chamber of Commerce and Industry which was focused on India-Bosnia & Herzegovina economic relations and investment opportunities, where Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) ambassador in India, Mr. Sabit Subasic emphasized geo-strategic position of the country and an efficient labour force which could prove benefiacial for Indian entrepreneurs investing there.[5]

Cultural relations

An exhibition named ‘Meanwhile in India’ was opened in capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sarajevo, in March 2015 where landscapes and images of the everyday life in India were on presentation.[6]

Indo Bosnia Cultural Forum has been formed by H.E.Sabit Subasic Ambassador of Bosnia And Herzegovina to India during 6th Global Festival of Journalism 2018 to develop and promote relations between two countries under the leadership of renowned international media personality Sandeep Marwah.

The Baitus Salam Mosque, Sarajevo is run by the Ahmadiyya.

Energy cooperation

The minister of foreign trade from BiH, in an International Seminar on Energy Access discussed about a study based on India’s renewable energy model and its implementations in Bosnia which would explore huge opportunities for both sides.[7]
