Barbeque Nation is an Indian restaurant chain owned by Barbeque Nation Hospitality Ltd. The first restaurant opened in Mumbai in January 2006. The restaurant chain also has private equity firm CX Partners as its investor.[1] Shortly after its start in Mumbai, it opened in other cities such as Belagavi Ahmedabad,Allahabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Bareilly, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun,Dimapur, Erode, Faridabad, Guntur,Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hubli, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolhapur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Madurai, Mangalore, Manipal, Meerut, Mohali, Mumbai, Mysuru, Nagpur, Nashik, Nellore, New Delhi, Panaji, Patiala, Puducherry, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Salem, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Trichy, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam in India. In Nov 2016, started an outlet in Al Barsha, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Recently it increased in number of outlets by opening in Patna, Bihar.

Background

The restaurant first opened in January 2006 in Mumbai,[2] and the following year, a second outlet was opened in Bangalore.[3]

Expansion

In 2007, additional restaurants were opened in Bangalore and Hyderabad.[4]

As of 2008, the company had plans to open centres across Dubai, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, after establishing itself as a major restaurant chain in India.[5]

In addition to the Mumbai and Pune it has outlets in various other cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kochi, Calicut, Thrissur, Vijayawada, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Mohali, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Panjim, Visakhapatnam, Vadodara, Varanasi, Noida, Kanpur, Surat, Trivandrum, Mysuru and Bhubaneswar.[6]

As of July 2012, the company has announced plans to open 30 more outlets in India by March 2013.[7] The restaurant had 36 outlets in India as of August 2013.[7]

Miele Guide has listed Barbeque Nation as one among the Top 100 restaurants in Asia and among the top 20 restaurants in India.[7]

As of July 2014, Barbeque Nation has 5 outlets in Mumbai[8] - Worli, Andheri, Marol, Thane, CBD Belapur & Nerul.

As a part of the buffet, Barbeque Nation has included the Indian desserts 'Kulfi' under the name of "Kulfi Nation" in the year 2014[9] & offers 800 customisable flavours as per the guests taste.

Barbeque Nation opened its 50th outlet in Vijayawada, on 30 June 2015.[10] As of Jan 2016, Barbeque Nation operates 63 outlets across the country & has spread its wings to Tier-2 & 3 cities like Ludhiana, Nagpur, Amritsar & more locations.[11]

2 November 2016 marks the date as Barbeque Nation has opened its first international restaurant in Dubai near Al Barsha Second area as a part of its plan to operate stores in some of the countries in the Middle East and SAARC region.

Also in 2016, A Barbeque Nation was opened in Bhubaneswar and in 2017 one was opened in Thiruvananthapuram. In June 2018 Barbeque Nation was opened in Belgaum.[12]

It also plans to open in Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu soon.
