The 2018 Chicago Red Stars season was the team's tenth season and sixth season in the National Women's Soccer League, the top tier of women's soccer in the United States. For the fourth consecutive season, the team qualified for the post-season playoffs and lost in the semi-final.[o 1]
First-team squad
The entire 2017 roster returned for 2018 NWSL season.[1] In January, in a three-team trade, Chicago sent Christen Press to Houston Dash, Jen Hoy to Sky Blue FC, and received Sam Kerr and Nikki Stanton from Sky Blue.[2] In another three-way trade in the middle of the season, Red Stars sent Samantha Johnson to Utah Royals FC, Sofia Huerta and Taylor Comeau to Houston Dash, and received Brooke Elby from Utah. In this second three-way trade, Utah Royals received Christen Press who did not join Houston after the previous trade.[3] On June 19, Chicago Red Stars announced the signing of Morgan Brian for the rest of the season.[4]
