1892 college football season

The 1892 college football season had no clear-cut champion, with the Official NCAA Division I Football Records Book listing Yale as having been selected national champions.[1]

On January 30, college football was first played in the state of Georgia or the Deep South when the Georgia Bulldogs defeated Mercer 76. On September 28 the first-ever American football game played outdoors at night took place, between Wyoming Seminary and Mansfield State Normal. The lighting situation proved difficult and the game ended at halftime in a scoreless tie.[2]
