R. Dean Taylor
R(ichard) Dean Taylor (Toronto, 11 mei 1939) is een Canadese zanger, producer en songwriter, die tijdens de jaren 60 en 70 van de 20e eeuw als een van de weinige blanke artiesten heeft gewerkt voor Motown Records.

Carrière
Taylor startte zijn carrière aan het begin van de jaren 60 in zijn geboorteplaats Toronto. In 1964 werd hij gecontracteerd door Motown Records, waar hij onder andere samenwerkte met Brian Holland en Lamont Dozier. Als mede-producer was hij verantwoordelijk voor de hit Love Child van Diana Ross & the Supremes, waaraan hij ook had meegeschreven.
In 1967 schreef hij de song Gotta See Jane, waarmee hij als zanger zijn doorbraak beleefde in 1968, echter vooreerst alleen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Nog succesvoller was hij in 1970, ondertussen bij het Motown-label Rare Earth Records, met Indiana Wants Me (2e plaats, UK-charts; 5e plaats US-charts). Ook op de 2e plaats kwam in het Verenigd Koninkrijk de song There's a Ghost in My House, die hij al had opgenomen in 1967 en toentertijd zonder succes had gepubliceerd. Eveneens in 1974 bereikte hij nog een keer de charts met Window Shopping.
