It would initially run from Mumbai Central. Later it was transferred to Bandra Terminus.

Traction

Earlier Dual traction WCAM 1 or WCAM 2/2P locos would haul the train between Mumbai Central & Vadodara after which a Vadodara based WAP 4 would take over until Ambala Cantonment following which WDM 3A twins from Ludhiana shed would take over until Jammu Tawi.

Since Western Railways completed DC Electric Conversion to AC on 5 February 2012, it was regularly hauled by a Vadodara based WAP 4 until Ambala Cantonment following which WDM 3A twins from Ludhiana shed took over until Jammu Tawi.

Post electrification of Jalandhar - Katra section, this train is hauled end to end by a Vadodara based WAP 4 or WAP 5 from Bandra Terminus to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.

Now, both trains are hauled by a Ghaziabad based WAP 7 electric locomotives.
