Otaslavice is about 10 kilometres (6 mi) south of Prostějov, 27 km (17 mi) south-west of Olomouc, and 207 km (129 mi) east of Prague.

The municipality covers an area of 7.68 square kilometres (2.97 sq mi), and has a population of 1,280 (3 July 2006 estimate).[1]

Notable people

The Royal Air Force flying ace Josef František (1914–40) was born in Otaslavice. He trained with the Czechoslovak Air Force, fought in the Polish Air Force in 1939 and French Air Force in 1940. He then fought in the Battle of Britain in the RAF's famous No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron, in which he shot down 17 German aircraft in September 1940.[2]
