Etymology

The name Marymount comes from the Mandarin pronunciation of the word MacRitchie, the name of the nearby reservoir. When MacRitchie is translated to Mandarin, it is pronounced as "Ma Li Qi", which literally means "Mary ride", or as the name suggests, "Marymount".
