Critical reception

"Homesick" received acclaim from music critics, who praised its lyrics and instrumentation. Neil Z. Yeung of AllMusic stated that "Homesick" "reveals Lipa's vulnerability and softness" and pointed out the similarities between the track and Coldplay's "Everglow", which is also written by Martin. He also stated the track is very different apart from the other tracks in the album and praise the track as "an excellent first effort:.[7] Ben Hogwood of musicOMH, while writing about the album Dua Lipa, praise the duet "brings some welcome tenderness and a genuine sense of yearning".[8]
