Alitus (crater)
Alitus is an oval impact crater just north of Argyre basin in the Argyre quadrangle of Mars, located at 34.91°S and 38.14°W and is not far from Hale's northwestern irregular rim. It is 50 km in diameter and was named after Alytus, a town in Lithuania. The name was approved in 1979 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN).[1]
