Delaware was won by Jimmy Carter (DGeorgia), with 51.98% of the popular vote. Carter defeated incumbent President Gerald Ford (RMichigan), who finished with 46.57% of the popular vote. No third-party candidate amounted 1% of the vote, but Eugene McCarthy (Independent–Minnesota) finished third in Delaware with 1.03% of the statewide popular vote.

Jimmy Carter went on to become the 39th president of the United States.[1]
