Thailand at the AFC Asian Cup

Thailand national football team so far has participated in six AFC Asian Cup and is expected to make their seven debut in 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Thailand was traditionally considered to be the strongest team in ASEAN Football Federation prior to the arrival of Australia in 2006, and so their participation on the tournament was seen as nominal. However, in spite of prestigious history, Thailand so far has just qualified to the next round once, in their maiden 1972 AFC Asian Cup which they were host and won bronze medal, and also their best performance to date. Thailand withdrew from 1976 AFC Asian Cup. Thailand's performance after 1972 was criticised, especially in 2007, when they were host for the second time yet failed to qualify from the group stage.
