StarStruck is a Philippine television reality talent competition show broadcast by GMA Network. It premiered on October 27, 2003 and has aired over six seasons. The seventh season is slated to air in 2018.

The show seeks to discover new actors and actress in the country through a series of nationwide auditions.

Format

Across the Philippines, casting tours are held in different regions, wherein hopeful contestants are screened by preliminary panels to be selected for star quality, acting talent, or humorous potential and human interest. The audition process is long, beginning with thousands of hopefuls showcasing their talents and interviewed by the panelists.

The competition heats-up when the hopefuls are cut down to fourteen and are the contestants for a respective Season. During the finals, the finalists were eliminated one by one until three pairs remain. After two weeks, one pair will be eliminated. The remaining four advanced to the Final Judgment where the winners were proclaimed.

In the second season, the "Wildcard Twist" was introduced. The wildcard week occurred when there were 6 finalists remained. The eliminated finalists were given a chance to come back in the competition. The week ended resulting to Benj Pacia elimination and CJ Muere replaced Benj Pacia in the competition.

During the fourth season, the said twist was again introduced that benefited Mart Escudero and Rich Asuncion who both secured a spot in the Final Judgment. Fourth season and fifth season, on the other hand, had six finalist from season 4 and had five finalists from season 5 who advanced in the grand finals or "The Final Judgment".

In the sixth season, two new twists were introduced. The first one is the competition between two teams, the StarStruck Dream 14, consisting of accepted contestants and the StarStruck Believe 14, consisting of the rejected ones. The other one was the introduction of "The Door". Upon crossing The Door, the hopefuls would determine whether or not they will still continue on with their StarStruck journey.

When a contestant touches a hand-shaped portal, he/she will hear one of three things:

  • "Congratulations" if he/she makes it to the next round;
  • "Thank You" if not; or
  • "Result will be announced on the first live broadcast. Until then, good luck!"

"The Final Judgment" will award the finalists' respective titles. There are two "Ultimate Survivors", a male and a female, at the end of every season. The winners are determined through the average of the text and online votes plus the decision of the three members of the StarStruck Council. However, in the third season, from the two Ultimate Survivors, there was an Ultimate Sole Survivor' title won by Marky Cielo that earned the winner extra prizes.

While in fourth season, instead of a final four, the format differentiates by choosing the final six as there was four big winners composed of the "Ultimate Loveteam" title won by Mart Escudero and Kris Bernal, the "Ultimate Hunk" title won by Aljur Abrenica, and the "Ultimate Sweetheart" title won by Jewel Mische. In the fifth and sixth seasons, the "Ultimate Male Survivor" and "Ultimate Female Survivor" titles were given once again.

Season 1

StarStruck: Dream. Believe. Survive was first announced on the GMA Network Sunday entertainment program SOP, where the hosts invited teenagers from 15-18 years old to audition for the upcoming StarStruck Season. Much of the auditions were held at SM Supermalls throughout the Philippines.

The pilot episode was aired on October 27, 2003. StarStruck is shown only weekdays having Mondays to Thursdays will be tests and Fridays would be the elimination night. The show held its Final Judgment on February 1, 2004 at the Araneta Coliseum.

The first season of StarStruck was directed by Lino Cayetano and hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Nancy Castiglione. The council, which guides the finalists throughout the competition, are composed of Joey De Leon, Ida Henares and Bb. Joyce Bernal.

In the 1st year of the reality-talent search, Out of thousands who auditioned, only TOP 100 was chosen for the first cut. From TOP 100, it was trimmed down to TOP 60, then from TOP 60 to TOP 30, and from TOP 30 to the Final 14 finalists. The "Final 14" underwent various workshops and trainings in order to develop their personalities, talents, and charisma. But, the twist is that every week, one of the Final 14 may have to say goodbye until only four remain. Those who were eliminated were dubbed as "StarStruck Avengers".

The final four will vie for the "Ultimate Survivors" titles, the "Ultimate Male Survivor" and the "Ultimate Female Survivor", and the two runner-up titles.

Season 2

The second season of StarStruck was announced once again on GMA Network's variety program, SOP, where the hosts invited teenagers from 15-18 years old to audition for the next and new upcoming StarStruck Season. Like its first season, much of the auditions were held at the GMA Network's headquarters and at SM Supermalls throughout the Philippines.

The pilot episode aired on October 11, 2004, the Final 14 and more rigid tests. The same rules were applied in selecting the "Ultimate Survivors". Like the first season, StarStruck is shown only weekdays, having Friday would be the performance and elimination Night both happened during the Friday show. The show held its "The Final Judgment" on February 20, 2005 same at the Araneta Coliseum.

The season premiere aired the untold secrets of the first season, the "Final 14" the life they had before and after StarStruck and the changes made into their lives.

The second season of StarStruck was then directed by Lino Cayetano, and was hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Jolina Magdangal (replacing Nancy Castiglione). The council, which guides the finalists throughout the competition, are composed of Joey de Leon, Christopher de Leon and There were slight changes made in the Council. Bb. Joyce Bernal was replaced by director Louie Ignacio.

In the 2nd year of the reality-talent search, Out of thousands who auditioned, only TOP 100 was chosen for the first cut. From TOP 100, it was trimmed down to TOP 60, then from TOP 60 to TOP 30, and from TOP 30 to the Final 14 finalists. The "Final 14" underwent various workshops and trainings in order to develop their personalities, talents, and charisma. But, the twist is that every week, one of the Final 14 may have to say goodbye until only four remain. Those who were eliminated were dubbed as "StarStruck Avengers".

GMA Network announced the return of their reality-based talent show. The third season, titled StarStruck: The Nationwide Invasion. On GMA Network Sunday entertainment program SOP, where the hosts invited teenagers from 15-21 years old to audition for the upcoming "StarStruck Season". Much of the auditions were held at SM Supermalls throughout the Philippines.

The pilot episode aired on December 5, 2005, If in the first second seasons, StarStruck is shown only weekdays, having Friday as Elimination Night, this season Monday to Friday will be the tests and Sunday would be the performance and elimination night both happened during the Sunday show. The show held its "The Final Judgment" on March 12, 2006 at the Marikina Sports Complex.

The third season of StarStruck was directed by Lino Cayetano and hosted by Dingdong Dantes, Jolina Magdangal and Raymond Gutierrez. The council, which guides the finalists throughout the competition, are composed of Joey de Leon, Louie Ignacio and Lorna Tolentino.

In the 3rd year of the reality-talent search, Out of millions who auditioned, only TOP 100 was chosen for the first cut. From TOP 100, it was trimmed down to TOP 60, then from TOP 60 to TOP 30, and from TOP 30 to TOP 20. This batch was trimmed down to twenty, dubbed as the "Final 20". The "Final 20" was reduced to "Final 16" and they formed The "Final 14" finalists. The Final 14 underwent various workshops and trainings in order to develop their personalities, talents, and charisma. But, the twist is that every week, one of the Final 14 may have to say goodbye until only four remain. Those who were eliminated were dubbed as "StarStruck Avengers".

The "Final 4"will vie for the "Ultimate Survivors" titles, the "Ultimate Male Survivor" and the "Ultimate Female Survivor". This time, from the two "Ultimate Survivors"titles, and the "Ultimate Sole Survivor" title will be picked who will win more than 10 million pesos worth of prizes, consisting of an exclusive GMA talent management contract, a new house and lot, a large cash prize and a livelihood showcase and the two runner up were dubbed as StarStruck "First Prince" and "First Princess" titles in the Final Judgment.

Season 4

GMA Network announced the return of their reality-based talent show on September 3, 2006. The fourth season, titled StarStruck: The Next Level GMA Network Sunday entertainment program SOP, where the hosts invited teenagers from 16-21 years old to audition for the new upcoming StarStruck Season. Much of the auditions were held at SM Supermalls throughout the Philippines.

The pilot episode aired on December 4, 2006, the new and improved edition of the popular show. Like the third season, StarStruck is shown only weekdays, having Friday would be the performance and elimination Night, this season Monday to Friday will be the tests and Sunday would be the performance and elimination night both happened during the Sunday show. The show held its "The Final Judgment" on March 25, 2007 again at the Marikina Sports Complex.

The fourth season of StarStruck was directed by Lino Cayetano and hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Jolina Magdangal. The council, which guides the finalists throughout the competition, are composed of Louie Ignacio, Lorna Tolentino and Douglas Quijano†.

In the 4th year of the reality-talent search, Out of millions who auditioned, only TOP 100 was chosen for the first cut. From TOP 100, it was trimmed down to TOP 60, then from TOP 60 to TOP 30, and from TOP 30 to TOP 20. Unlike the previous batches, which launched the Final 14, this batch was trimmed down to twenty, dubbed as the "Final 20". The initial cut of TOP 20 Survivors was reduced to TOP 16 Survivors until they formed the "Final 14" underwent various workshops and trainings in order to develop their personalities, talents, and charisma. But, the twist is that every week, two of the Final 14 may have to say goodbye until only four remain. Those who were eliminated were dubbed as "StarStruck Avengers"

This time instead of the "Final 4"but this season make it the "Final 6" will vie for the "Ultimate Survivors" titles, the "Ultimate Hunk", the "Ultimate Sweetheart", and the "Ultimate Loveteam". And the two runners-up were dubbed as StarStruck "First Prince" and "First Princess" titles.

Season 5

After one year, GMA Network announced the return of their reality-based talent show. Auditions for the new season started on the day it was launched on August 30, 2009. The fifth season, titled StarStruck V GMA Network Sunday entertainment program SOP, where the hosts invited teenagers from 16-22 years old to audition and for "The Worldwide Invasion Audition", new upcoming StarStruck Season. Much of the auditions were held at SM Supermalls throughout the Philippines.

The pilot episode aired on November 15, 2009, from third and fourth seasons, the performance and elimination night both happened during the Sunday show. This season there was be a Saturday edition and it is the performance night hosted by Raymond Gutierrez. The Sunday edition is the Elimination Night hosted by Carla Abellana and Dennis Trillo. The show held its The Final Judgment on March 25, 2007, again at the Araneta Coliseum.

The fifth season of StarStruck was directed by Lino Cayetano and hosted by Dingdong Dantes, Raymond Gutierrez, and Carla Abellana (replacing Jolina Magdangal) Dennis Trillo became the replacement for Dingdong Dantes who later hosted for Family Feud where Richard Gomez, the original host of its show, ran for congressman of Ormoc.[1] Nancy Castiglione join us to complete the Final 5 host for the Final Judgment. The council, which guides the finalists throughout the competition, are composed of Floy Quintos, Lolit Solis and there were slight changes made in the Council. Actress Sunshine Dizon was first reported to be part of the StarStruck council in the place of Iza Calzado but had to turn down the offer due to health problems.

Major changes happened on the show. The regular daily show became a daily update show that focused on the lives of the contestants and their activities and tests on the show. It was hosted by the show's "StarStruck Graduates", Mark Herras (StarStruck: Season 1, the first ever Ultimate Male Survivor), LJ Reyes (StarStruck: Season 2 First Princess), Arci Muñoz (StarStruck: Season 3 Avenger) and Paulo Avelino (StarStruck: Season 4 Avenger). They serve as "StarStruck Shoutout" who is tasked to join the hopefuls as they go through every phase of the competition.

From TOP 100, it was trimmed down to TOP 60, then from TOP 60 to TOP 28, and from TOP 28 to the "Final 14" finalists. The "Final 14"underwent various workshops and trainings in order to develop their personalities, talents, and charisma. But, the twist is that every week, one of the Final 14 may have to say goodbye until only four remain. Those who were eliminated were dubbed as "StarStruck Avengers"

This time instead of the "Final 4"but this season make it the "Final 5" will vie for the "Ultimate Survivors" titles, the "Ultimate Male Survivor" and the "Ultimate Female Survivor"was given again and the three runners-up was given for this season, the first Runner-up StarStruck "First Prince" and "First Princess" titles, for the second runner-up dubbed as StarStruck "Second Prince" title in the Final Judgment.

Season 6

After more than of five years of hiatus, GMA Network announced the return of their reality-based talent show. Auditions for the new season started on the day it was launched on September 7, 2014. Much of the auditions were held at SM Supermalls throughout the Philippines.

The pilot episode aired on September 7, 2015, Like the first ssecond seasons, Monday to Thursday episodes featured tests, with the Friday episode as the elimination night. The show held its finale on December 19, 2015 at the GMA Network Center's studio 7 and studio 8.

The sixth season was directed by Rico Gutierrez and Dingdong Dantes reprised his role as the host with Megan Young serving as co-host.[2][3]

The council consisted of Joey de Leon,[4] Regine Velasquez,[5] and Jennylyn Mercado.[6] While serving as a host, Dingdong Dantes also sits as a judge for this season.[7]

The segment hosts are "StarStruck Graduates", Mark Herras (StarStruck: Season 1 The first ever Ultimate Male Survivor), Miguel Tanfelix (StarStruck Kids First Prince), Kris Bernal (StarStruck: Season 4 Ultimate Loveteam), Rocco Nacino (StarStruck: Season 5 Second Prince). They serve as "Journey Hosts", who are tasked to join the hopefuls as they go through every phase of the competition.

In the 6th year of the reality-talent search, Out of millions who auditioned, only TOP 100 was chosen for the first cut. From TOP 100, it was trimmed down to TOP 60, then from TOP 60 to TOP 35. One of the new twists added to "StarStruck Top 35"is the Introduction of "The Door". Upon crossing The Door, the hopefuls would determine whether or not they will still continue on with their "StarStruck Journey". The initial cut of Top 35. The "Final 28" Survivors was reduced to two groups, by which they call "StarStruck Dream 14" and "StarStruck Believe 14". The ones Top 28 Survivors was again reduced to TOP 22 Survivors and again to TOP 18 Survivors until they formed the "Ultimate Final 14" underwent various workshops and trainings in order to develop their personalities, talents, and charisma. But, the twist is that every week, one of the Ultimate Final 14 may have to say goodbye until only four remain. Those who were eliminated were dubbed as "StarStruck Avengers"

The "Ultimate Final 4" was chosen, the two "Ultimate Survivors" titles, the "Ultimate Male Survivor" and the "Ultimate Female Survivor" was given once again. The StarStruck "First Prince" and "First Princess" titles.

Season 7

It is slated to air in 2018.[8]
