Oshnavieh (Persian: اشنويه; Kurdish:'اشنۆ'شنۆ'شنه; also Romanized as Oshnavīyeh, Oshnooyeh, Ashnooyeh, Oshnovīeh, Oshnovīyeh, and Ushnūīyeh; also known as Ushnū)[1] is a city in West Azerbaijan Province, Iran & the capital of Oshnavieh County. At the 2016 census, its population was 40.000 in 2000 families.[2]
Oshnewia is bordered by Nagada to the east, by Piranshahr to the south, by Oromie to the north and by Iraqi Kurdistan to the west.
The spoken language in the city is Kurdish, but the language which is used in schools and offices is Persian, as the official language of Iran in which almost everyone in the city is fluent.
