Nishikant Dubey is a rotund member of India's 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He is a member of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and represents the Godda constituency in Jharkhand since 2014. He was also a member of the 15th Lok Sabha, 2009-2014.[1]

Education & background

Dr. Nishikant Dubey had been active in politics since 2009 and prior to that he was working with Essar as a Director. He has been married to Ms. Anamika Gautam (NIFT Graduate) in the year 2000 and has 2 sons presently studying in Singapore. He holds a BA degree from Marwari College Bhagalpur, MBA degree from FMS, Delhi and a Doctorate degree from Pratap University in Jaipur.[1]

Achievements

1) Baba Baidyanath International Airport at Deoghar[2]

A formal tie-up was signed on March 25, 2017 between the state government, Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to build an international airport at Deogarh by 2019. The new airport will spread across over 600 acres of land and its terminal building will be built in an area of 4000m2. The building will be a composite structure inspired by the shikharas of the Baidyanath Temple. With a 2500-metre-long runway, the airport will be able to accommodate two AB-320 type aircraft.

2) AIIMS in Devipur, Deoghar[3]

The AIIMS project in Devipur got a nod from the Centre after CM Raghubar Das wrote a letter for the same. Dr. Nishikant Dubey had fought for a long time for it in August 2016. Jharkhand government handed over 236.92 acre land to the Center for building the AIIMS on April 18, 2018. The Deoghar district administration has completed the process of land transfer to the Union Health Ministry. The AIIMS Devipur is a 1103 crore project spread over 237 acres of land. The hospital will have a capacity of 750 beds and a medical college.

3) National Highway 133 (Deoghar to Hansdiha) [4] The acquisition of the land for the National Highway (NH) 133 in Jharkhand has happened in August 29, 2016.

4) Milk Processing Unit, Deoghar [5]

The Milk Processing Unit at Deoghar has the capacity of processing 50,000 litres milk, involving a cost of INR 40 crores. The Project ensures to fulfill the dreams of farmers and promises of making women self- reliant and providing employment. The project is planned in a manner that in the future it plans to leave behind Gujarat in milk production and processing. The foundation stone of the Milk Processing Unit was laid on July 13, 2017.

5) Fragrance and Flavours Development Centre at Godda [6] On the request of the state government, the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) had prepared a plan to set up the institute based on the suggestions given by the Fragrance and Flavor Development Centre (FFDC) in Kannauj (UP). The Jharkhand government approved the project to be spread across 10 acres land in Deoghar and 20 acres in Godda, in November 2015. The foundation stone was laid in Godda on November 2017. The fragrance and flavours development center, which is planned to be an extension of the Kannauj Centre, has suggested plantation of menthol mint, palmarosa, French basil, lemongrass and vetiver taking into account the total yield, plantation costs, market rates and profits per acre.

6) Sports centre in Deoghar [7] The Sports Centre in Deoghar is a state-of-the-art multi-sports facility, boasting of a football ground with capacity of 1100 spectators at a time, a 400 m racetrack with a capacity of 1000 viewers, badminton and table tennis courts, a 6- lane, 25 m swimming pool. Apart from this, the Sports Complex has a basketball court, a volleyball court, an art and culture hall and a beautiful park. The Sports Complex was inaugurated by Dr. Dubey on 29 April 2018.

7) Pirpainti- Jasidih Railway Line [8] The Pirpainti- Jasidih Railway line consists of three sections- Pirpainti- Godda (60 km), Hansidiha- Godda (30 km) and Hansdiha- Mohanpur (37 km). The Project was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs at a meeting in Delhi on 12 February 2014. The project was expected to cost around INR 916 crores which will be borne by the State and the Centre on a 50-50 cost- sharing basis. The Ministry of Railways allocated the funds for the project in the 2016-17 Railways Budget in February 2016. As of now, the Ministry of Railways is in the process of securing the funds for the project and scheduled to be completed by 2020.
