The Ministry of Finance and Economy (Albanian: Ministria e Financave dhe Ekonomisë) is a department of the Albanian Government, responsible for matters relating to economic policy, the central government budget, taxes, banking, security and insurance, international economic work, central, regional and local government.
On 13 September 2017, the ministry was restructured by joining the Department of Economy, which was part of the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Enterprise.
History
Since the establishment of the institution, the Ministry of Finance has been reorganized by joining other departments or merging with other ministries, thus making its name change several times. This list reflects the changes made in years in pluralist history since 1992 as an institution:
- Ministry of Economy and Finance (Ministria e Ekonomisë dhe Financave) from 1992 to 1994
- Ministry of Finance (Ministria e Financave) from 1994 to 2017
